MORE TABLE for TWO!
Fete
Two women sit motionless at the abstracted banquet, under a chandelier of champagne glasses. At first rather idly, a cup or spoon is unexpectedly flung across the room; momentum builds until the performers hurl every item in the small space at the floor and walls, just missing each other. Unfolding as an expressionless waltz, the performance concludes when all the glassware and china is smashed to bits, and the pair is left scratched and breathless. The public is able to view through a standard door frame, covered in plexiglass.
Materials: table, two chairs, china, champagne/wine glasses, silverware, fruit, two performers in evening dress and safety goggles.
This performed installation was developed and performed in collaboration with choreographer/dancer Christine Marguerite, inspired by Laurel Jay Carpenter’s earlier installation, Table for Two.
